At the meetings in Nova Scotia in September 2015, The Directors decided to initiate a new communication procedure whereby they could inform members of progress on items they were discussing. This is the seventh of these communications and the three items to be discussed are
- The historical book looking at 75 years of the IPE (1940 – 2014),
- the new student membership application and 3) the use of LinkedIn as the preferred platform for IPE groups.
A historical book has been written and is being published on the seventy-five years history from 1940 to 2014 of the IPE. It is a chronological record of events taken from the files in the National Office as well as memories of IPE members. It will be available for purchase at $25.00 plus shipping for members and $35.00 for non-members at the AGM. This is a limited publication. Please contact Fred at email@example.com to reserve your book.
With the focus on student memberships in 2016, the Directors are pleased to announce that a new format for the student membership application form has been developed. While still administered at the branch level, the National Office will use the information from the application form to include all students in IPE communications such as the word from the Directors. The new forms are in English and French and can be either filled in and submitted directly or downloaded, filled in and then submitted. It is hoped that this system will keep students informed and involved with the IPE and lead to their continued membership after graduation. The National Directors are also considering changes to the IPE Student Membership as a National Initiative which will be finalized at the AGM in October.
There has been an increase of different platforms for electronic communications such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. The Directors have decided that Linked In is the preferred platform for the IPE. They think that there is better control with LinkedIn and it gives the IPE a more professional image. Thank you to all branches and Areas for their cooperation with this decision.
